#1 Introduction + LEED summary-Lena Fehrenbach

Hello everyone,

I’m Lena Fehrenbach from Bonndorf in Germany. I chose Interior Design as my major because I’m passionate about creating spaces that enhance people's lives and reflect their personalities. My specific interest lies in sustainable design and how it can improve both functionality and environmental impact. I’ve taken online courses before, and I’ve found that staying organized and engaging actively with the content are key to success. I plan to apply these strategies in this class to excel and contribute meaningfully.

LEED Credentials Summary

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) oversees the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification program, which is intended to honor and advance sustainable building techniques. The LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) and the LEED Green Associate are two well-known LEED certifications.

LEED Green Associate: Those who are new to sustainable design and construction are the target audience for this entry-level accreditation. It denotes a fundamental comprehension of the ideas and methods of green building. Sustainable site development, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, and indoor environmental quality are among the subjects covered in the LEED Green Associate exam. Professionals who wish to show that they are committed to sustainability in their respective industries can get this accreditation.

LEED AP: For individuals who possess a better comprehension of green building practices, there is a credential called LEED Accredited Professional. When it comes to applying the LEED rating system, LEED APs are highly knowledgeable and skilled. Building Design and Construction, Interior Design and Construction, and Operations and Maintenance are just a few of the specializations available to LEED APs. Passing a more difficult exam and often gaining real-world experience in green construction projects are prerequisites for obtaining this degree. As acknowledged experts in their industry, LEED APs frequently participate in the meticulous planning and implementation of sustainable projects.

Professionals who wish to show off their proficiency with LEED processes and further their careers in sustainable design must possess both certifications. They are useful in making sure that projects fulfill strict environmental performance requirements and sustainability.
