#1-Sami Ford

Hi my name is Sami Ford. I currently live in Willmar, Minnesota (however, I would consider my hometown to be Friesland, Wisconsin because I lived there for 16 years). I chose interior design as my major because I have been fascinated by color since I was young; I would always help my mom pick out fabrics for her quilts since I was around 4 years old. And I have been interested in design since middle school when I found out Interior Design was a career. My interests are in residential design and commercial stager for the entertainment industry.  


Yes, I have taken online classes before, however, they were not very time consuming and very straightforward (only 2 types of assignment- forums and tests or blogs and projects). If the instructor would explain simply and clearly our assignments, I would be more successful in this class. Videos and visual learning are a lot more helpful and memorable than readings.  

 

The mission and vision statement of USGBC, which is the organization that started, and rates LEED buildings is, “Transforming buildings and communities to advance human and environmental wellbeing.” LEED, which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is a rating system to help classify green buildings. These sustainability initiatives help to provide environmental, social, and governance benefits. LEED is now on their 5th version which focuses on the built environment, with a low carbon future and addressing equity, health, ecosystems, and resilience. (USGBC.org/LEED)

    Hey Sami! That's really cool that you are interested in commercial staging for entertainment. I haven't met anyone interested in that before. You also did a good job of summarizing the current LEED initiatives.

Research Initiatives: Week 14 INT 323 Eva Serrato Carpet Tile Installation: For carpet tile installation you first have to make sure that the sub floor is in the correct condition and any sort of padding is installed beforehand. There are different patterns that need to be decided before installation starts. After this is decided then how the tiles will be planned when they intersect a doorway or a corner and this can be decided by a dry lay which is laying the carpets down before they are glued. Then the tiles need to acclimate to the humidity of the room. Then the adhesive is placed, either a peel and stick or a direct glue down.   Personal Blog/ Special Considerations INT 323   Eva Serrato   My name is Eva Serrato and I am Senior at Judson University. I am on the women's Cross county and Track team.
